Reiki (Ray-Kee) means Universal Life Energy and is ancient Tibetan systems of natural hands on healing. Reiki is a holistic approach to well-being which supports the bodies natural ability to heal itself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Reiki energy seeks out imbalances and tends to remove obstacles on all levels. Reiki is not a replacement for required medical treatment or procedures.
Reiki was re-discovered in the mid-nineteenth century in Japan by Buddhist Monk, Dr. Mikao Usui. He studied in Buddhist temples and learned Indian Sutras. Through meditation and fasting came revelation and attunement to the healing power of Reiki. Before his transition in 1930, Dr. Usui gave master attunement to Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, a retired naval officer. Dr. Hayashi's preserved Reiki and developed the Usui system of healing. Dr. Hayashi opened a Reiki clinic in Japan. Hawayo Takata, treated for her own illness at Dr hayashi's Clinic, decided to learn Reiki. In 1938 Dr Hayashi initiated Hawayo Takata of Hawaii as a Reiki Master. Madame Takata trained and initiated 22 master teachers. Through these 22 masters initiated by Madame Takata, Reiki is now taught today
